紐約曼哈頓聚集著各處來尋求American Dream的人們，許多電影也以此地做拍攝地點，除了透過影片說出他對這城市的熱愛，也有電影像The Day After Tomorrow 明天過後，用象徵人類文明Manhattan高樓林立的場景，與迎面撲來的海嘯(Tsunami)作對比，像是大自然(Nature)對文明的挑戰。透過以下的片段來認識一下紐約的面貌吧!

Many Americans believed in "The American Dream". Its new immigrants believe that if you work hard, change is possible.  The song " America" from the musical "Westside Story" shows how people picture about their American Dream.

Chapter 3 the Coffin Ship

The Irish people took the so called coffin ship to the USA or Canada during 1840.

The journey could take months. There was not much water, food or fresh air on the ship. 

Many people died. The ship was also known as coffin ship.
